SmartLINK June 2022

BankWAW Be part of something bigger July 2022 SmartLINK July 2022 Hello &Welcome to SmartLINK! 2022 started off with the same high levels of activity as we have seen in previous years, due in large part to a major rebranding project that we have been working on for some time. We have also been working hard on a number of new initiatives that aim to improve our products and ultimately the experience that our customers have when banking with us. We were delighted to complete a major rebrand project on 23 March where we moved to the new BankWAW trading name and logo. While this is an important longterm initiative, we want to assure all our stakeholders that this does not change the way we operate – or the fact that we continue to be 100% customer-owned. The goals of our brand refresh are to modernise the way we present our organisation to the wider regional community and to ensure that we remain relevant to existing and future customers. Ultimately, the new brand is designed to improve awareness of what we do as an organisation after research showed that an increasing number of people didn’t fully understand what a Credit Union does. The rebrand is an exciting step forward in our customerowned banking journey, which will reinvigorate the WAW brand in our local markets. Our purpose continues to focus on creating a positive social impact by putting customers and community at the centre of everything we do. Importantly, the Board and staff were very focused on keeping the cost of the rebrand and general impact overall as low as possible. In order to do that, we will continue to roll out brand updates over coming months as the stock of stationery and other items run down to avoid wastage. While the rebrand has been a significant project, we are also embarking on several other projects for our customers. With floods, weather pattern changes, and sad news around the globe kicking off 2022, BankWAW is very proud to be your local banking institution and to be supporting our local communities as we deal with what has unfolded more recently and what the rest of the year may bring. In closing, we have seen our ability to maintain continuity of services and operational stability for customers across all channels remain very high over the last couple of years, and I want to express my gratitude to our staff for their resilience, professionalism and passion during this time. We are also delighted that we were able to continue with large projects and investments over this period to deliver important new digital services to customers, as well as a raft of brand-new savings products moving forward. Please continue to reach out to our friendly staff, or me directly, with any questions you may have regarding the BankWAW rebrand or any of our products and services. Stay safe and well. BankWAW Be part of something bigger July 2022 BankWAW Launch a Success! WAW Credit Union has rebranded our operations to trade as BankWAW fromWednesday 23 March 2022. The organisation will continue to be 100% customer-owned, run by the same local people, delivering great customer service, and supporting our regional communities. These changes to our brand reflect the products we offer but do not alter our legal or operating structure. Our values and approach to running the business will also remain unchanged. You will notice our brand start to look different over the coming months as we have updated our staff uniforms and we update our digital platforms, building signage and marketing materials. • You can now access our website via www.bankwaw.com. au • We have rebranded our Internet and Mobile Banking platforms, which you can access through our website. • We have also launched a rebranded Mobile App for both Apple users and Android users. You can install the update in the App Store and Google Play. This is an exciting time for BankWAW and our community, and we encourage you to reach out to the BankWAW team if you have any concerns or would like to learn more about the change. Please email any questions to info@bankwaw.com.au and a member of our team will be in touch. Howwe’ve been helping our local communities WAW’s commitment to the community is founded upon supporting local initiatives and local people. A significant component of this is our sponsorships and donations, and despite the continuing impacts of COVID-19 on local events, there has still been much to celebrate over the past six months. Here are a few things we have been doing to help create a positive social impact in our regional communities: • We continue to support regional sport as major sponsors of Ovens and King Football and Netball Leagues and the Hume Football and Netball League. • We donated towards the addition of wonderful new seats in the Corryong Memorial Hall. • We continue to partner with our community to deliver positive social outcomes and help build stronger ties in Southern NSW and North-Eastern Victoria. Please visit www.bankwaw.com.au/About-Us/ Community/Sponsorships to find out if your group or club is eligible to apply for sponsorship.

BankWAW Be part of something bigger July 2022 BankWAWService Centre Signage If the weather has permitted, by now you should have noticed our new building signage for our Service Centres. Our Wodonga, Albury, Wangaratta, and Lavington Service Centres have been scheduled for their updates throughout April 2022. Building signage at Walla Walla, Yackandandah, Beechworth, Tallangatta, Corryong, Myrtleford and Chiltern Service Centres have been scheduled for their updates throughout May 2022. Banking on Trees In conjunction with Landcare and Parklands Wodonga, we support the annual Banking on Trees Day which allows us to fulfil our initiative where we plant a tree for every new account or loan with BankWAW. We encourage all staff, customers and other community members to attend the inaugural tree planting day, which this year is scheduled to be held on Sunday 24 July. Planting a tree is one of the easiest and cheapest ways to take CO2 out of the atmosphere to tackle the climate crisis. It’s also the easiest way that we, as individuals, can reduce our own footprint. Through BankWAW’s Banking on Trees program, we’re revegetating the bushland of our local communities, contributing to a better climate, supporting biodiversity, and creating better living conditions for our local communities. Password Security We are all inundated with online living, and with that comes a new password for every website. Password fatigue can make us not as vigilant as we should be – however, a strong password is an easy defence against scammers. Always consider making your online password longer than 14 characters and use a combination of upper- and lowercase letters, numbers and punctuation marks. As laborious as it sounds, you should create a unique password for each application you use. If thinking of all those passwords sounds like too big a chore, perhaps consider using a part of a sentence, which only makes sense to you and will not be easily guessed by anyone else. You can then substitute letters for symbols – for example ‘@’ instead of ‘a’ or a ‘0’ instead of the letter ‘o’. Passwords should never be stored on your computer or written down. This is why thinking of a unique password or passphrase is important in helping to keep your personal information safe.

BankWAW Be part of something bigger July 2022 BankWAW Corporate Cheque Changes In April 2022, BankWAW introduced changes to Corporate Chequing. What are the main changes to Corporate Cheques? BankWAW Corporate Cheques were previously drawn on an account held at National Australia Bank (NAB), and NAB have withdrawn this service. BankWAW has identified an alternate means of providing Corporate Cheques, so we will continue offering a full Chequing service in accordance with our commitment to our customers. The physical cheques have been redesigned and updated, with these being available from April 2022. There will be no other changes to the Chequing process and the fee for drawing a Corporate Cheque will remain at $5.00 – substantially less than the big four banks. Winter Blanket Appeal With the colder months upon us, it is a comfort that we have a warm place to live and a comfortable bed to sleep in each night. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case for everyone. In order to help those who do not have these comforts, each year we partner with ABC Goulburn Murray and Uniting to help those in need of warmth in Winter. You can help by visiting your local BankWAW Service Centre and donating new blankets, bedding, winter woollies or a monetary donation. You can also donate directly to Uniting online at www.unitingvictas.org.au/ local-winter-gne Youth Banking Products Our Youth Transact and Saver accounts are fee-free accounts for people aged 13-25.
