Hi, is there anything I can help you with?
Due to unscheduled maintenance, our Corryong Service Centre is temporarily closed and we expect to re-open in the afternoon on Monday 15 August.

Our Walwa Service Centre will open on Monday 15 August, from 9:30am-12:30pm and can assist during the closure of the Corryong Service Centre on Monday morning.

We hope to have this issue at our Corryong Service Centre resolved as soon as possible. We’re sorry for any inconvenience!

Caring About Regional Safety (CARS)

The Caring About Regional Safety (CARS) program encourages primary school children to think about safety, and to express their ideas in the form of a creative competition.

Inspired by Senior Constable Ann Brimblecombe – who was tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident in 2006 – the CARS program asks children to create a promotional poster or video skit promoting a safety message or slogan.

Senior Constable Brimblecombe was a pivotal figure in the community for her work with primary school children, and continues to inspire years later. In her honour, the Ann Brimblecombe Memorial Award is given to the competition winner.

Win $2,000 for your school

The winning entry with the best safety slogan will win $2000 for their school, as well as a ride in a police car (pending parental approval).

Teachers are encouraged to work with students in order to draw out their ideas on messages about safety, whether those messages are about the home, school or travelling.

Teachers should collate all student submissions (with student name, class and school written on the back) and send to the CARS Action Team before the competition closes each year. Video submissions should be placed on a USB and sealed in an envelope, with details written on the back.

The competition is open to all primary schools in north-eastern Victoria and southern New South Wales.

'Safety...Think It, Do It!'

CARS mascot Safety Sam helps to promote the ‘Safety… Think It, Do It!’ message that the program inspires. Students are encouraged to use Safety Sam’s image within their submissions, which can be downloaded here.

 Get your class involved

To help inspire the students, a representative of the police force will be available to visit every school to talk to students about safety. If your school would like to organise a visit, or if you would like to find out more about the CARS program, please contact:

Senior Sergeant Michael Connors
Wangaratta Police Station
21-33 Handley Street

Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions and staff shortages, we were unable to run the CARS program in 2022.

Please watch this space, as we are aiming to run this program again in the near future.

For further information in the meantime, please reach out to the Safety Action Team on 03 5723 0840, or reach out to our Marketing Team at marketing@bankwaw.com.au
